ELEGANT STEAM
North British Railway
No 902 Atlantic (4-4-2). An imposing and powerful locomotive well suited for sharply curving North British lines. Designed by Reid and introduced in three batches from 1906 they were designated as Class H by the NBR. It's a well known fact that the NBR livery, ie, the original sort of greenish olive, brownish body colour, is hard to define as it seems that it changed constantly. Anyway, by around 1913 or thereabouts it seems that it was more umber with only a vague touch of green. There is a touch of green in the body colour (if you can't see it just take my word) and the lining is not showing very well but an enlarged view shows it better.
I believe that this locomotive was named "Highland Chief" but I'm not sure so I have omitted it until I get further information.
