ELEGANT STEAM
London Midland & Scottish Railway
No 5155 mixed traffic (black 5). Designed by Sir William Stanier and introduced in 1935 these immensely useful locomotives totaled over 500. They were found everywhere on the LMS system. This particular locomotive is a mystery as it is alleged to have been named "Queens Edinburgh". Four other members of the class were certainly named with many photos to prove it, but No 5155 remains a topic of debate among railway historians and enthusiasts. Until recently I had not been able to trace a single photograph of this locomotive, with or without a name, which was very odd. However, thanks to Jos I now have a photo of 5155.
