Coach A brake 1st (no 1581), and coach B semi open 1st (no 1582). These coaches were formed as a twin set. They were at the head of the train when travelling north, ie, from London.
This triplet set was attached to Coach B above. It consisted of Coach C restaurant !st (no 1583), Kitchen Car (no number) and coach D restaurant 3rd (no 1585)
