"Claughton" Class No 179. The class was introduced in 1913 with No 2222 Sir Gilbert Claughton by Bowen Cooke, CME, and were built from 1913 until 1921 to a total of 130 locomotives. Stylish and powerful locomotives they handled the majority of the LNWR express services. All were taken into LMS service in 1923, renumbered and, I believe, given the LMS red livery.  No 179 was unnamed until April 1926, in LMS ownership, when it was named "Private W Wood VC" (No 6018)
